Steve Sammut

Founder & Director

Having studied classical guitar with Trinity College London I had the pleasure to begin my music career with the former “Royal Viking Cruise” playing classical guitar concerts on a world cruiser with the added  benefit of travelling to over 40 countries.

I  have had the pleasure to  perform private concerts for the Late Lord Litchfield the queens photographer, Birthday parties for  actors such as Richard Attenborough and Jean Michel Cousteau son of Jacques Cousteau

In 1995 I set up Scamps Music  which became The Rock and Pop Foundation and wrote and created the accredited trainer series syllabus and odd tourist band book series used by over 50,000 children to date.

My passion is  to “Raise the standards in music education “ and provide a unique teaching environment in which professional musicians can work alongside our  schools  in a uniformed approach, furthermore  enable young musicians to successfully map a pathway provided by innovative music programmes through a network portal for information, advise, jobs, education and industry links. Some of my proudest moments within Rock and Pop Foundation is taking former student Sam Carrington who started learning with us at 7 years old though an apprenticeship into senior management and now leading the organisation as well as being  instrumental in the starting career of Lisbee Stainton.

A former student of The Rock and Pop Foundation who at eighteen years old, Lisbee was the first unsigned artist to play London's O2 Arena. Soon after, 6 Music’s Tom Robinson discovered her song 'Red', and his support subsequently led to a further four of her tracks being play listed by BBC Radio 2. Since then, Stainton has consistently toured the UK and Europe, both as a headline act and a support act, with artists such as Joan Armatrading, Seth Lakeman, Paul Carrack, Gretchen Peters, Fisherman’s Friends and Paul Brady.

I have work alongside producer  Jed Leventhall and have created a television band format, met with SYCO management as well as Endemol and  always look to reach out into newer formats such as “Battle of the Brands” for the corporate music development world.

For fun I still play alongside Sean Wilkinson and enjoy flamenco guitar as well playing in a Duo called 'Acoustic Sofa'.
